BMW X3, a new integral transmission concept The BMW X3 arrives in the segment of compact SUV that the manufacturer calls SAV (Sports Activity Vehicles). This new vehicle offers 3 six in-line cylinder engines and, especially, a very new integral transmission concept: the xDrive.
XDrive transmits a variable torque to the front axle thanks to an electronically controlled multiple-plate clutch actuated in less than 100 milliseconds.
