Supercharging

Supercharging
The amount of combustion air supplied to the spark ignited and diesel engines, and thus their power output, can be largely increased by boosting the charge air pressure. This is achieved by the use of compressors driven either from the engine's crankshaft, an exhaust gas turbine, a slave motor, or a combination of these different means.
